VERY PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE: 'THE BLINDS,' COMING SOON

Since people periodically ask me about the status of a third Spademan novel, I thought I would provide this update: I'm very happy to announce I'll be publishing THE BLINDS with Ecco press... which is not the third Spademan novel. We'll discuss that novel in a moment. But first: THE BLINDS.

This is a standalone thriller that I am incredibly excited about. It takes place in Texas. (The photo, above, is from a research trip I took to the Panhandle Plains last fall. I still wonder if those donuts ever arrived.)

Here's the description written up by my editor for Publishers Marketplace, announcing the deal: 

I won't say much more about it, except that I'm confident that if you like SHOVEL READY and NEAR ENEMY, you will really dig this book as well. It's a different world, and different characters, but a whole lot of fun. The book itself will not appear until 2017, so this is a bit like a birth announcement for a beautiful baby you won't get to meet for at least another year. Even so: It's news that I wanted to share.

Now, as to that third Spademan novel: It is coming. Soon. How soon? Well — after this next book, in all likelihood. But not long after. That's all I can say for now. 

In the meantime, if you have not read SHOVEL READY, please do! I think you'll like it. If you have read it, but you haven't read its sequel, NEAR ENEMY, I think you'll like that one too. If you've read both and are jonesing for the third chapter, that is definitely excellent news to my ears. Feel free to let me know. And feel free to recommend those books to other readers who you think might enjoy them, which is just about the best way to ensure that number three will arrive soon.
